Torn in Two
Theme: Epic Differences
(Voice 1)
I live in a world of grey,
no colour or joy that my eyes can retain.
Drifting alone, pulled by the flow,
causing no ruckus, causing no pain,
ignoring screams that my body exhales.
A peek in the box never caused any pain?
It might be a cat; or its earthly remains.
(Voice 2)
I turn my ear inside out
“Love and Joy!” it seems to shout!
A form of myself that proudly presents,
a proud personality, all on their chest!
Pondering properly the power I have
a perception that shifted the moment I lived!
(Voice 1)
Back to the public, I hide my other,
try my best to be no bother.
Causing no ruckus, but I'm in pain
why must I wear this skin again?
Shackled by eyes that look at me,
eating me up, spitting me out,
a harsh judgement of what lurks underneath!
(Voice 2)
But why should I care what those eyes think?
Should I not be myself, as true as can be?
Flaunting the fabulous flavour that shines underneath
it's time to add some colour to the grey that they see!
(Voice 1)
Against the current, I stand alone,
but even then, the current is strong.
Swept away, to carry my day,
in the shape I present that still brings me pain.
I see other colours pushing through,
with calmer currents than I seem to do.
I muster the strength to try again
the current still forces me to “behave”...
