A Cement Rose in a Flower Garden

Theme: Die Blumen

It lays there... still,
planted yet unrooted from the garden it's in.
Colorful and sticking out sorer than the thumb that had planted it.

It stays there,
shedding out the colors from the petals of yesteryear,
blooming anew, with colors unseen by the flowers of the previous bloom.

Bleeding out
the colors contrasting the pale petals of flora untracked,
petal by petal, falling off, as their dry brown stems buckle and rot.

Replacing,
one by one, the colors and the earth start matching,
ten by ten, to cement they turn by the hand that wills them.

Erasing,
as cement roses need no dirt for it to take shape,
the earth shrivels out and breathes its last solid stone sigh.
